New WIP Billing and Integrated Time bring time, WIP, billing payment, and performance insights into one connected workflow

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Ignition today announced WIP Billing and Integrated Time, closing the gap between the work accounting firms deliver and the revenue they earn from it.

For most firms, that connection is broken: work is tracked in one place and billed in another, and profitability is pieced together afterwards. Ignition now brings time, WIP, billing, payment, and performance insights into one connected commercial workflow, so firms can see what their work is really worth and get paid for all of it.

“Accounting firms should not have to choose between the systems that help them do the work and the tools that help them get paid,” said Tammy Hahn, Senior Vice President of Product at Ignition.

“Firms can now record hours in Ignition or in the system their team already uses, and every entry stays connected to WIP, billing and performance. That flexibility helps firms reduce reconciliation, make better billing decisions and protect the economics of fixed-fee work.”

Connect time, WIP and billing

Firms can capture eligible hourly and out-of-scope time from connected systems or record it directly in Ignition. That work can move into WIP and billing review, where teams can decide whether to bill, hold, carry forward, write up, write down, or write off work before connecting the outcome to an invoice and payment.

Fixed-fee time remains connected to the agreed service, helping firms evaluate budget, realization, profitability, and scope.

Ignition Time: native time tracking in Ignition

With Ignition Time, firms can manage time directly in Ignition using a native timer or timesheet. Team members can record Billable and Non-Billable time against a client, service, or work type, then submit it for WIP review. Submitting time makes work available for billing and performance analysis.

Integrated Time: keep work where it happens

Integrated Time is designed for firms that want to keep projects and tasks in the system they already use. The external system remains the operational source, while Ignition receives normalized time for WIP, billing, payment, and performance insights.

Current Integrated Time integrations include:

-Karbon
-Financial Cents
-QuickBooks Time
-XPM
-Practice CS through the new Practice CS Desktop Connector

The Practice CS Desktop Connector is available now through Ignition for firms running Practice CS on their own server or hosting it through Rightworks.
By preserving client, service, project or task, staff, date, duration, description, rate, and source context where available, Integrated Time helps firms use the same commercial workflow without creating duplicate entries or double billing.

This is one more area where Ignition is demonstrating its commitment to an open ecosystem: firms keep the tech stack they want, and Ignition connects the data.

Performance insights for better decisions

WIP Billing includes WIP performance insights to help owners, partners, managers, and billing teams see and understand the connection between work and revenue. Firms can review open and aging WIP, realization, effective rate, margin, fixed-fee performance, and the impact of billing decisions.

Together, these capabilities help firms identify scope creep earlier, understand whether fixed-fee work is profitable, move from time to WIP to invoice with less re-keying, and make more informed decisions about pricing, renewals, and client service.

“Before, our team had to piece together time, billing, and profitability across multiple systems. Now we can keep using the tools our team relies on while getting a clearer view of what is ready to bill, what needs a decision, and how our fixed-fee work is performing.”
